PRECIOUS RULE
THE POETIC STORYTELLER
Precious Rule
Professional Poet, Model, and Actress.

At an early age, Precious Rule developed a passion for creative arts. This sudden interest happened in elementary school. Her teacher instructed the classroom to write a book for the Young Authors Program. She was informed that this was a writing competition and that the students could write anything as long as it was fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry. Precious Rule did not understand how to write in any of them. But her teacher suggested the class should choose to write about something fictional because it's similar to making up stories. These words inspired Precious Rule, and she quickly developed an interest in storytelling. Her first unpublished fictional book was said to be the best story written in her class. So, the teacher asked Precious Rule to enter the writer's program again. But this time, her teacher suggested that she write poetry.

In that unpublished poetry book, Precious Rule wrote fictional stories that were truly poetic. Her teacher couldn't believe that someone so young could write such powerful stories, and she informed Precious Rule parents that she should pursue this talent. Precious Rule parents placed her in a performing arts school where she learned even more about the creative arts, including modeling and acting.
As Precious Rule grew older, she was asked to write fictional stories for her high school newspaper, recite poetry for the school assembly programs, and enter even more writing competitions. One of these writing competitions awarded her the opportunity to see one of her stories performed by local professional actors in Chicago.
Today, Precious Rule is still telling fictional stories through poetry. She has even named herself "The Poetic Storyteller."
All of Precious poems are fictional. She has decided to write and perform her poems in the first person using the pronoun "I" as if each poem is explicitly about her. This writing method incorporates her stage acting skills to connect with the audience and to bring each poem to life.

Precious Rule has performed and been seen on B.E.T., the Black Women’s Expo, Windy City Live, Bantu Fest, and much more.
